An Evening on the USS Midway With the Oak Ridge Boys!

We had a private party on the USS Midway (Aircraft Carrier) that included a concert by the Oak Ridge Boys and a great fireworks show. It was a fantastic night!

San Diego Temple Visit

Temple was closed for some construction work. We snuck into the grounds long enough to get a few pictures!

Sea World San Diego

We had a great day at Sea World. The weather was beautiful and the shows were great.

Sunday, June 22, 2008 - Banner Day for Bret!

Two special things happened on Sunday. First, Bret received his Duty to God award. This award represents 6 years of work and achievement. Congratulations! Also, later that evening, Bret received the Melchizedek Priesthood and was ordained an Elder by his father. It was nice that all of this could happen on Bret's Grandpa B's birthday. We love you, Bret!

Happy Father's Day, Cleve Bolingbroke!

My father is a great man! He has been a true example to me my entire life. I know that he would willingly sacrifice everything he has for the sake of me and the rest of his family. He has shown me that one can live the Gospel and be very happy at the same time. Being good IS fun!

He is a great patriarch in his expanding family. An increasing number of his posterity are learning to call him blessed. He also has become a very firm link in our family history chain. He and Mom are living bridges to our ancestors.

Thank you for your example, support and love. The older I get, the more joy I receive from watching my own posterity live after the "manner of happiness". My posterity is YOUR posterity. We will make our chain links strong, thus strengthening yours, and the ones before yours; connecting us eternally with our loving Maker!

Gary's Melanoma

We had an interesting 6 weeks dealing with a melanoma diagnosis on my lower right eyelid. I saw 6 doctors/surgeons and eventually went up to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in SLC for several surgeries. One doctor took out 75% of my eyelid to make sure all the cancer was gone. Another took out a lymph node in my neck to make sure the cancer had not spread past the eyelid. A plastic surgeon (a very talented man!) then reconstructed my eyelid using grafts and other very delicate procedures.

Test results have come back now and they are confident that all cancer cells have been removed from my eyelid (with good margins). The lymph node biopsy also came back negative yesterday! The plastic surgeon will do one more reconstructive procedure next month. I will go to my dermatologist every 6 months for the rest of my life to make sure the eyelid remains cancer-free.

Thanks for all your prayers, support and strength this past month. We are feeling very blessed and loved!
